Bella Boheme is a bohemian clothing and homewares store in the Blue Mountains. Emma’s vision is for women to feel beautiful, to be inspired, and to creatively express themselves through their clothing and homeware choices.

The Bella Boheme brand is a beautiful collision of global and local inspiration. She is worldly and bohemian, but firmly rooted in the beauty of her Blue Mountains home. Inspired by the idea of a scrapbook or travel journal, the Bella Boheme brand integrates watercolour patterns and collaged flowers. It’s as though the Bella Boheme woman is creating art from her travel photos, pressed flowers from her adventures, and hand-painted elements inspired by the places she visits.

I had the pleasure of stepping into creative direction for this project – sourcing native flowers, pressing them, and working with Michelle from Eyes of Love Photography to capture all the blooms that you’ll find throughout the Bella Boheme brand.

The icon combines the two dominant visual elements of the Bella Boheme brand: textile-inspired patterns, and flowers. This floral icon is hand drawn, with the beautiful imperfections that entails. Inspired by Turkish and Moroccan motifs, it can also be used to create a repeat pattern.

The watercolour patterns are hand-painted by me, inspired by patterns and textures from all over the world.

The colours are rich and earthy, inspired by the mountains and flora of NSW as well as richly coloured textiles from all over the world.

Bella Boheme’s online home is a reflection of their beautiful bricks-and-mortar store in the Blue Mountains – a sensory experience rich with texture, colour and collage.

“Working with Alisha is a holistic experience. She dives deep into the topic and the brand she is working with, so I had the feeling that she really connected with my work from the start. It was easy to work with her and she also gives you a lot of tasks for self-reflection within your business – which for me was a big benefit. I am sure it was not the last time I’ll work with Alisha!”
